In the early hours of Sunday, September 2 1666, a small fire started in Pudding Lane in the centre of London. Over the next four days, the Great Fire of London went on to destroy 13,200 houses and 84 churches, leaving as many as 100,000 people homeless and changing the face of the city forever

  • Furious Blaze Destroys London Paint Factory

    Fifteen fire engines and at least 90 firefighters rushed to put out a blaze that ripped through a paint factory on Waterloo Road in London on Monday. According to eyewitnesses, explosions were heard from the warehouse at Waterloo Road, Staples Cross, which is at a major intersection in north London. Dense smoke billowed over the area as the blaze continued to burn. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
