Mitsubishi's EMIRAI 3.1 xDAS Concept Car One Step Closer to Automated Driving

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation presented its EMIRAI xDAS 3.1 concept car at the 2017 CeBIT tech fair in Hanover on Monday, giving a potential look at the types of vehicles which might be driving our roads in about 5 to 10 years time. The futuristic concept features next-gen driving-assistance technology, augmented reality navigation, gesture and face recognition, and wearable devices which provide information to specific passengers. It also collects information about the drivers' physical condition via camera sensors and a built-in cardiograph to combat fatigue.

    Audi revealed its luxurious Aicon concept car at the IAA 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show on Wednesday. The futuristic Aicon concept has no steering wheel or pedals, instead of driving autonomously while the driver sits back and relaxes on one of the interior swivel chairs. Audi's Aicon concept is a fully electric vehicle which can travel up to 500 miles on a single charge. The vehicle uses advanced artificial intelligence to navigate while also getting information from the driver using eye tracking and gesture controls.

    Electric car lovers and green activists need to take note of the Rinspeed Oasis, a self-driving concept car designed by German supplier and drive engineering company ZF and showcased at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Tuesday. The Rinspeed Oasis comes with a garden integrated under the bonnet of the vehicle, making it the 'greenest' concept we've ever seen. The project is the result of a collaboration between ZF, which supplied the car's technological components, and the Swiss automotive industry think tank Rinspeed, which owns the idea around the Rinspeed Oasis. The concept car is not actually planned for manufacture, but was instead designed to inspire the auto industry.
