Venice has been hit by a series of devastating floods leaving 75% of the city underwater. Tourists and locals alike donned wellies. While public water transport services have been halted across the city. The flooding follows a series of extreme storms. Reportedly, it's the worst flooding since 2012. Meanwhile, in another part of Italy in Rapallo, the storm has wreaked havoc on the local harbour. Sailboats and super-yachts were left battered. Some of them were even sunk by the storm.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visits a flood-hit area in the southwestern German state of Saarland, alongside state premier Anke Rehlinger, after heavy rain swamps streets and buildings and forces evacuations. At least one person is injured but no deaths have been reported. IMAGES
Gabriel Attal is visiting the Pas-de-Calais region of northern France to see the progress being made in cleaning up the river to reduce the risk of flooding like the one that hit the region hard at the end of 2023.
