Ferrari Official Dealership in Hatfield celebrates grand opening with guest Carlos Sainz

Description

As if opening a brand-new Ferrari showroom and previewing the Ferrari Roma Spider in the same evening wasn’t enough, the team at H.R. Owen invited Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz to cut the red ribbon.Drawing up to the red-carpeted entrance of the state-of-the-art facility in a stunning white Ferrari SF90 Stradale, the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 driver joined H.R. Owen CEO Ken Choo and more than 200 guests to celebrate the occasion at the invite-only evening event on the 5th of July.Outside, the two-storey showroom was floodlit in red, in honour of Ferrari’s signature Rosso Corsa colour. Inside, guests were entertained by a DJ set and live music – and by two driving simulators, so that they could race the Ferrari F1 car.Guests were treated to both Italian and Malaysian cuisine – a nod towards the heritage of the brand and the nationality of the founder of Berjaya Corporation Berhad – H.R. Owen’s parent company – Vincent Tan Chee Yioun. Mr. Tan’s vision has been instrumental in further expanding Ferrari’s representation in the UK, working in close partnership with Ferrari S.p.A. in Maranello. As well as the H.R. Owen Ferrari showroom in South Kensington, the Group also opened a Mayfair-based Ferrari showroom in 2019 before this launch of the Group’s third – and largest – showroom in Hatfield. At the end of 2022, H.R. Owen further bolstered its Ferrari customer experience with the acquisition of the former Joe Macari-operated Ferrari Service facility in South London, offering its clients more flexibility and convenience in the care of their Ferrari. The presentation of the new Roma Spider made the evening even more special. The latest addition to the Ferrari range, the Roma Spider matches a timelessly elegant design with a sophisticated fabric roof which, after folding away in just 13.5 seconds, allows you to revel in the exhilarating soundtrack from the twin-turbo V8 engine under the long, flowing bonnet.

  • Ferrari - Spanish Grand Prix – Home race for Carlos

Just one week on from the Portuguese Grand Prix, on a track that has only hosted two Formula 1 races, the World Championship now moves to the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit in Montmeló, 25 kilometres from the Catalan capital, which has featured on the calendar every year since 1991. It also used to be the usual venue for pre-season testing, but this year, because of the pandemic, that was moved to Bahrain. The track layout, featuring high, medium and low speed corners, direction changes, undulations and a long start-finish straight, is a demanding test-bench of a car’s abilities. It is also one of the most difficult tracks for overtaking. Being close to the coast means that changes in wind direction are one of the factors to deal with, because it has a significant impact on the balance of the cars that run in a medium-high downforce configuration. There are two DRS zones, one on the main straight leading to the first chicane and another after turn 9 on the back straight that leads to turn 10, where it will make less of a difference under braking, but it will not be impossible to try a textbook overtaking move around the outside, relying on entry speed going into the turn. During the winter, major changes were actually made to turn 10, a very heavy braking point where it was easy to lock up

The busiest season ever, with no fewer than 24 races, gets underway next week in Bahrain with the only pre-season three-day test session, followed by the first grand prix at the same venue, on Saturday 2 March. The SF-24 is the third car of the new Formula 1 ground effect generation, but it breaks with the tradition of the past two years, starting with the look of it. The design group, led by Enrico Cardile, aimed to give Charles and Carlos a car that is easy to drive and that reacts predictably, with as a starting point, the positive feeling the drivers had in the cockpit over the final few races of last season. The goal is to allow them to make the most of the power unit’s potential, combined with their undoubted skill behind the wheel.

Scuderia Ferrari has completed the second of three days of testing scheduled on the Fiorano track. Today on the SF71H the starting drivers, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc took turns.
