Description

Mexico City, Jun 7 (EFE).- President Andres Manuel Obrador said Monday that the outcome of mid-term elections in which his leftist Morena party lost ground while retaining its majority in the lower house of Mexico's Congress will allow him to advance his agenda."Two distinct and opposed projects were on the ballot, especially in the federal election, and I am very grateful because as a result of this election the parties that sympathize with the project of transformation that is under way will have a majority in the House of Deputies," he said at his daily press conference.(CAMERA: Miguel Angel Andrade)

  • López Obrador will review the program Stay in Mexico after Biden's inauguration

Mexico Dec 17 (EFE) .- The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, explained Thursday he would analyze the preservation of the migratory program Stay in Mexico, which forces asylum seekers in the United States to wait on the Mexican side of the border.STATEMENTS FROM PRESIDENT OF MEXICO, ANDRES MANUEL LOPEZ OBRADOR:"We are going to wait for Mr. Biden to take his position. We already have our policy. It was a decision we made, not imposed by foreign governments, we are not the puppet or the colony of any foreign government. The result was very good, in the time we have been dealing with the migratory phenomenon there have been no murders of migrants as there were before because there was no policy. They were not protected. Now they are registered and protected in the south so that they do not pass and become victims of violence. It is better to convince than to impose."
