EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell says during a press conference in Colombia's capital Bogota that he welcomes the conversation between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky, thought to be their first call since Russia invaded Ukraine. SOUNDBITE
European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen says she welcomed Chinese leader Xi Jinping's stated willingness to hold talks with Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. "It was interesting to hear that President Xi reiterated his willingness to speak when conditions and time are right. I think this is a positive element," she says during a press conference in Beijing following talks with the Chinese leader. SOUNDBITE
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is greeted by Italian Prime Minister and G7 summit host Giorgia Meloni at the luxury Borgo Egnazia resort before joining a session on Ukraine with the leaders of the United States, Canada, Japan, Britain, France and Germany.
