American Battle Mech 'MKIII' Prepares For Robot Rumble with Japanese Megabot Kuratas

Description

Giant walking robots piloted by humans are preparing to engage in an epic battle the likes of which has never been seen. MegaBots unveiled their new giant fighting robot, the Mk. III on Saturday, during San Mateo's Maker Faire in California. The Mk. III, which weighs over 22,000 pounds and features state of the art hydraulic and mechanic technology, could be seen speeding around a small enclosure, punching cars and wowing onlookers. Despite the fact that the robot can fire projectiles at around 130 mph, MK III restrained from firing its mighty arsenal due to safety concerns.

According to Science Magazine, instead of quarantines, the government will use tiny wasps known to kill the invasive beetles in hopes of saving the ash. It's a devastating Asian pest that has killed tens of millions of ash trees since 2002. Ash trees are considered a linchpin of American forests. Some agree that, after spending some $350 million to fight the ash borer, the government should redirect scarce resources to more promising strategies. But others argue the surrender is premature. So some states are vowing to maintain local controls on ash tree and wood movement.
