The United States warns that any Gaza ceasefire by Israel would benefit Hamas, as the European Union considers a call for a humanitarian pause. A ceasefire would "give Hamas the ability to rest, to refit and to get ready to continue launching terrorist attacks against Israel," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller tells reporters. "I am begging the world to bring my baby back home", urges the mother of a young French-Israeli hostage girl, Mia Shem, abducted on October 7 in Israel by Hamas. On Monday, the Islamist movement posted on its official Telegram account the video of "one of the prisoners in Gaza" in which a young woman speaking Hebrew appears.
