A three-man crew including an Emirati who became the first Arab to reach the International Space Station return to Earth safely in good shape. Hazzaa al-Mansoori of the United Arab Emirates touched down in the Kazakh steppes at 1059 GMT along with NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin, who both survived a failed launch to the ISS last year.
Three days ahead of his return to Earth, French astronaut Thomas Pesquet shares with AFP his reflections on spending six months on board the International Space Station. Among other impressions, Pesquet shares his appreciation for the fragility of his home planet. "You don't realise how thin the atmosphere is," he says "you don't realise how easily we can harm the planet and how important it is to protect it. We only have one."
