Egyptian security forces accidentally killed 12 people, including eight Mexicans, when they opened fire on a convoy of tourists in the country’s Western Desert on Sunday.
Twelve people were killed and 10 others injured when Egyptian security forces attacked a convoy of Mexican tourists in western Egypt on Sunday. The incident occurred in a restricted area near El-Wahat in Egypt’s Western Desert region.A convoy of four vehicles containing Mexican tourists was travelling in the region when Egyptian security forces mistook them for terrorists and opened fire.“It resulted in the death of 12 Mexicans and Egyptians and the injury of 10 others who have been transferred to hospitals," Egypt’s Interior Ministry said in a statement.The incident came on the same say that terrorist group ISIS had announced on social media that it was behind several attack on the Egyptian military in the Western Desert.
