A hotel siege by al Shabaab militants in the Somali capital ended with the final death toll from the attack standing at 14. Nathan Frandino reports.
At least 27 people were reported dead on Friday after Malian commandos stormed a luxury hotel in the capital Bamako with at least 170 people inside, many of them foreigners, that had been seized by Islamist gunmen. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.
At least three people have been killed, including two Malian nationals and one French national, in the ongoing hostage situation at Bamako's Radisson Blu hotel. Malian special forces are attempting to storm the building in order to end the siege.
At least 170 people have been taken hostages Friday morning at the Radisson Blue hotel in the Mali capital, Bamako. Several gunmen are keeping the hostages in a hotel mainly used by foreign visitors.
United Nations staff are among those killed when Islamist gunmen seized the Byblos Hotel for nearly 24 hours in the Malian town of Sevare. Jillian Kitchener reports.
