Motörhead Frontman Lemmy Dies at 70

Description

Bandmates announced that legendary Motörhead frontman and bassist Lemmy has died following a short battle with cancer. The band said in a statement, "We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please...play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy's music LOUD." Influential rocker was known for his hard-drinking, hard-living lifestyle as much as his distinctive, gravelly vocal style. Lemmy was the only continuous member of the seminal rock band. Motörhead formed in 1975 and made music for over 40 years. Rock critic and Rolling Stone contributor David Wild paid tribute, saying: "There are people who play rock & roll. And there are people who ARE rock & roll."
