Mark Zuckerberg Wants to Bring the Internet to Syrian Refugees

Description

In a speech at the United Nations on Saturday, Facebook C.E.O. Mark Zuckerberg proposed bringing internet connections to Syrian refugee camps. Zuckerberg said, "Internet access will help refugees better access support from the aid community and maintain their links to families. Data can help us make smarter decisions but only if you can interpret it quickly and with confidence, so we want to help the UN make decisions that will advance our goals.” For the more than four million Syrians in refugee camps, basic supplies like food, water, and health care support are dwindling. Zuckerberg argues that refugees having internet access would make it easier for the U.N. to track their needs and communicate with them.
