The Pregnancy Rate in the U.S. is at a Record Low

Description

According to the most available data released Friday, the U.S. pregnancy rate has hit a record low. Births and abortions were both down over the same time in 2010 — although other surveys looking at more recent months show births ticking back up. According to the research by the National Center for Health Statistics, abortions also hit a record low. Researchers Sally Curtin and Joyce Abma of the NCHS, wrote, "The pregnancy rate for women in the United States continued to decline in 2010, to 98.7 per 1,000 women aged 15-44, a record low for the 1976-2010 period. This level was 15 percent below the 1990 peak."
