Protests In Charlotte Over Police Shooting Decision

Description

Protests erupted in Charlotte, North Carolina after a decision was announced in the shooting investigation of Keith Lamont Scott. In a press conference on Wednesday, District Attorney R. Andrew Murray announced that he will not be charging officer Brentley Vinson in the fatal shooting of Scott. Since the shooting, Vinson has been on administrative leave as authorities investigate the case.

    Dozens of protesters marched through the streets of Charlotte on Sunday, for the sixth day running following the fatal police shooting of a 43-year-old black man named Keith Lamont Scott. The National Guards as well as police were deployed to secure the area, including a helicopter, riot police on buses, as well as officers on bicycles and golf cars. At least one person was arrested during the peaceful protest and activists were forced to march on the sidewalk as they made their way to the city centre.
