Passenger Plane Carrying Dozens Goes Missing in Pakistan

Description

Wednesday while flying between two cities in Pakistan, a passenger plane carrying around 40 people crashed. The airline said in a statement that The Pakistan International Airlines plane "lost its contact with [the] control tower" en route from Chitral to the capital Islamabad. Spokespeople for the country's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and military confirmed that the plane crashed and said they were sending teams to the site. The aircraft, flight PK-661, is an ATR-42 twin-turboprop plane used for regional short-haul flights. The arrivals board at Islamabad International Airport listed its status as "check airline." "All resources are being mobilized to locate the aircraft," the airline said, adding that its emergency response center has been activated.
