This is the Nikola One - A Hydrogen-Powered Semi with Zero Emissions

Description

Nikola Motors unveiled its zero-emission hydrogen-powered electric semi-truck called the Nikola One, which aims to compete against the largest truck manufacturers in the world and fight climate change at the same time. Unveiled at the company's headquarters in Salt Lake City, the class 8 semi-truck will be powered by both lithium batteries and hydrogen fuel cells which generate over 1,000 horsepower and 2,000 ft-lbs of torque and enable the truck to travel up to 1,200 miles on a single charge. Leasing the Nikola One will cost customers between $5,000 and $7,000 per month for a 72 month term and includes unlimited hydrogen fuel at their network of stations. Nikola Motors have already received pre-orders worth $3 billion and plans to build a network of fuel stations across the US and Canada starting in January 2018.

  • Jaguar Land Rover to develop hydrogen-powered Defender fuel cell prototype

Jaguar Land Rover is developing a prototype hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) based on the new Land Rover Defender, with testing scheduled to begin this year. The FCEV concept is part of Jaguar Land Rover’s aim to achieve zero tailpipe emissions by 2036, and net zero carbon emissions across its supply chain, products and operations by 2039, in line with the Reimagine strategy announced last month.FCEVs, which generate electricity from hydrogen to power an electric motor, are complimentary to battery electric vehicles (BEVs) on the journey to net zero vehicle emissions. Hydrogen-powered FCEVs provide high energy density and rapid refuelling, and minimal loss of range in low temperatures, making the technology ideal for larger, longer-range vehicles, or those operated in hot or cold environments.
