  • GOP: Impeachment Will Further Divide The Country

Business Insider reports that five House Republicans support impeaching President Donald Trump over the Capitol siege. Most Republicans are pushing against it. They are arguing that it would further divide the country. "This will only bring up the hate and fire more than ever before," one House Republican said on Wednesday. • Instant Karma? Trump Would've Won Georgia If He Hadn't 'Suppressed His Own Voting Base'

Georgia's Republican top election official Brad Raffensperger says he believes President Trump's attacks on mail voting suppressed his own base. In fact, Raffensperger says Trump's baseless claims that mail voting is untrustworthy and fraudulent cost him the state. According to Business Insider, 24,000 Republicans who voted by mail in the state's June 9 primary elections did not vote at all in the general election. While Trump outperformed the polls in many states, he lost the key battleground states of Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, in addition to Georgia. What's more, an even higher number of Georgia Democrats who voted in the primaries stayed home for the general. Trump was the first Republican presidential nominee to lose Georgia since George H.W. Bush in 1992.

Business Insider reports that Biden's wife Jill had to gently remind the former VP that he was running against Donald Trump.

  • Fun Facts About Election Day In America: Tie-Breakers

US presidential elections can be very tight. In 2000, for example, it took the Supreme Court to decide between Democrat Al Gore and Republican George W. Bush. But there are other ways to pick a winner in a tied US election. Take, for instance, the 1994 House of Representatives race in Wyoming. The governor broke the tie by pulling a Ping-Pong ball adorned with the name of the winner out of a cowboy hat. In the Silver State of Nevada, they settle ties by drawing cards—high card wins, naturally. This last happened in 2011, when neither frugal candidate in a North Las Vegas city council primary would pay $600 for a recount!
