Illinois pork processing plant closes amid COVID-19 pandemic

Saint Charles, Apr 27 (EFE).- The Smithfield pork processing plant in Saint Charles, about 68 kilometers west of Chicago, was ordered closed by the Kane County Health Department after plant workers filed complaints about social distancing and cleaning conditions inside the factory.Another Smithfield plant in Monmouth, located about 340 kilometeres southwest of Chicago, which produces about 3 percent of pork supplies in the US,also closed last week after some employees tested positive for coronavirus (Camera: TANNEN MAURY).FOOTAGE SHOWS CLOSED GATES TO THE EMPLOYEE PARKING LOT AT THE SMITHFIELD PORK PROCESSING PLANT IN ST.
