New York, Apr 29 (EFE / EPA) .- Life in the neighborhood of Williamsburg in New York was incident-free on Wednesday afternoon till after a funeral for the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community with a large crowd, drawing harsh criticism from Big Apple Mayor Bill de Blasio.The Mayor of New York lashed out at Hasidic residents of Williamsburg after personally verifying police attempts to disperse the crowd gathered for the funeral of Rabbi Chaim Mertz, who died precisely from COVID-19.De Blasio warned "the Jewish community and all communities" via Twitter that violating social distancing guidelines could lead to fines or arrests.New York has so far registered 165,000 cases of coronavirus and 12,774 deaths derived from the disease.
