Restaurants and beaches in Florida reopened on Monday with strict social distancing rules, after being ordered to close for more than a month due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a new order effective Monday to allow restaurants to reopen with full outdoor seating, and indoor seating allowed at 25 percent of building capacity.On-site sale and retail businesses can also operate at 25 percent of capacity, subject to appropriate social distancing and sanitation measures, but bars, nightclubs and gyms remain closed.All Florida’s Counties are allowed to reopen except Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. Mar-a-Lago is President Donald Trump's private club in Palm Beach, Florida. Business Insider reports that Mar-a-lago is the First Family's "gilded getaway." It's where the Trumps are widely speculated to retreat to following Trump's exit from office. Trump's neighbors aren't thrilled at the prospect of the former President moving in next door. The luxe property was closed for about 57 days amid the coronavirus pandemic. It has previously hosted visitors like the prime minister of Japan.
President Donald Trump and his family appear to be making preparations to vacate the White House, despite his insistence he secretly won the election. Business Insider reports Trump has asked for renovations to be made to his Mar-a-Lago residence as the first family considers moving to Florida. The White House has not made any official announcement about Trump's post-presidency plans. First Lady Melania Trump is reportedly also looking for schools around the Palm Beach area and neighboring Broward County for son Barron, 14. Meanwhile, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner seem to be steering away from New York City, where they were once prominent Manhattan socialites.
According to Business Insider, Southwest Airlines is trying to stay afloat during the pandemic by adjusting their routes. They recently announced that they will serve nine new leisure routes to cities across the country, with a focus on Florida, Colorado, and California. The sharp drop in business customers has forced Southwest to serve airports it has historically avoided and operate seasonal services, to places like Miami; Palm Springs, California; and Montrose, Colorado, just in time for ski season. Palm Springs is also a popular destination for social distancing. Alaska Airlines has also recently added new routes to the desert location as well. The country largest low-cost airline will also expand their service in Chicago and Houston. The airline recently asked employees to take a pay cut to avoid furloughs, for the first time in their near 50-year history.
