Colombia’s 'serenaders' take to streets to stay afloat amid COVID-19 lockdown

Barranquilla/Cali (Colombia), May 7 (EFE),- Colombian serenaders, who earn their living from musical performing traditional Mexican songs on birthdays and other celebrations, have seen their income plummet during the coronavirus crisis and are asking authorities for help.In Colombia, as in most of Hispanic America, the serenade is a tradition which has been challenged by the pandemic, and the serenaders had to "go somewhere else with their music.”(Camera: ERNESTO GUZMAN JR.). We decided to carry out this musical social campaign because we want to reach (the people at their) homes in one way or another with our Mexican music (00:18-00:32).2.)Here we are reaching each of their homes with songs and especially this month with the important Mother's Day celebrations, we are paying them a nice tribute (00:37-00:52).3.) If the government does not listen to us and give us a solution, we will have to go out on the street regardless of the risks because we have to work. We have to provide for our family (03:06-03:17).
