President-elect Joe Biden wants Congress to pass a coronavirus relief package with funding for payrolls for public workers like teachers and first responders. There's a reason why the federal government is able to run a deficit: because the states must, must, balance their budget. And they're in real trouble. President-elect Joe Biden In a speech on Monday, Biden characterized the economy as 'teetering on the edge,' months before coronavirus vaccines could become widely available. President Donald Trump continues to refuse that he lost the presidential election. As such, the Trump-appointed administrator of the GSA has so far refused to take the legally necessary step to begin the transition process. Biden said coordination is important 'now, or as rapidly as we can get that done,' and said that 'it would make it a lot easier if the President were to participate.'
Pres. Donald Trump and Dr. Anthony Fauci are on course for another, very public battle. According to CNN, Fauci questioned why Trump thinks mask wearing is weak. Fauci is the world's leading infectious disease specialist. He and the President are arguing as the pandemic begins the feared fall & winter spike. Trump has slammed Fauci repeatedly. Early in the pandemic Fauci said mask wearing was not necessary. "Let's see if we could put this to rest once and for all," Fauci said. "Cloth coverings work."

The widow of the late Republican Sen. John McCain believes her husband 'would be very pleased' that Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump on Election Day. Although a lifelong Republican like her husband, Cindy McCain endorsed President-elect Biden. Business Insider reports McCain says she hopes Trump concedes gracefully, as did her late husband conceded to then-president-elect Barack Obama in 2008. The late senator was widely praised for his moving concession speech delivered on Nov. 5, 2008, just a day after Obama's projected election win. I really truly hope ... that this president stays on the right side of history. But also with all that said, does what's right for the country. Cindy McCain Widow of the late Arizona Sen. John McCain Trump has refused to concede and has floated baseless theories to justify nullifying the results. He also claimed he had already won the election, despite trailing Biden and not accounting for the unprocessed ballots throughout the country.
Presidential campaigns today seem to be massive, well-oiled machines. But that doesn't mean American election history is without its oddities. For example, the Farmers Almanac says President Zachary Taylor never, ever voted. He kept his political beliefs a secret all the way up until his 1848 election. According to The Famer's Almanac, George Washington’s entire campaign budget for his 1758 election to the House of Burgesses was spent on liquor. Borrowing an English tradition, Washington spent 50 British pounds on 160 gallons of alcohol that was given to 390 voters. Originally, only white male American property owners could vote in US elections. But the 1920 Nineteenth Amendment gave women the right to vote, too. According to the Farmer's Almanac, since 1964, more women voters have gone to the polls than male voters during presidential election years.
