Two members of the US Capitol Police have been suspended after welcoming pro-Trump rioters into the Capitol building on Wednesday. According to Business Insider, Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) said one of the officers took a selfie with a rioter. The other put on a 'Make America Great Again' hat and directed insurrectionists through the building. Ryan is on the Legislative Branch Subcommittee, which oversees spending on the Capitol Police force. He said one of the members may have been arrested. The attack Wednesday was the worst assault on the US Capitol since British forces burned it down in 1814. The rioters failed to stop the certification of electoral college votes for President-elect Joe Biden at the urging of President Donald Trump. The violence resulted in five deaths.
President Donald Trump's campaign and Republican officials have filed nearly two dozen lawsuits since Election Day. It's an attempt to contest the results of the 2020 election. But according to Business Insider, none of the lawsuits so far have ended in victory. The campaign filed lawsuits and motions to intervene in cases in swing states Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. They've notched zero victories, 19 cases where they've withdrawn or lost. Three cases remain pending. The Trump campaign had one win in Pennsylvania, where a judge ruled an issue over voter ID. verification. However, the state Supreme Court later overturned it.
Pennsylvania's Secretary of State says the counting of its remaining mail-in ballots could be completed on Thursday. That razor-thin margin made it a top priority for Democrats to win back in 2020. If Biden wins Pennsylvania, he'll secure the electoral college majority necessary to win the presidency. So far, Insider and Decision Desk HQ projections say Biden has secured 253 electoral college votes. Trump has so far won Florida, Iowa, Ohio, and Texas. Races in Arizona, Nevada, and North Carolina remain too close to call, although Fox News and the Associated Press have called Arizona for Biden.

Fox News and the Associated Press have each made a call, and that's become a problem. CNN reports the issue has become a bone of contention between the news organizations and President Donald Trump's campaign. Arizona's 11 Electoral College votes are pivotal to Trump's path to re-election. But Fox's decision desk called the race for Joe Biden. Trump allies spent Wednesday demanding that Fox retract its projection. Jared Kushner even called Fox owner Rupert Murdoch to complain--to no avail.
The Republican committee of Arizona's Maricopa County is considering censuring the widow of the late GOP Sen. John McCain. Cindy McCain was a prominent Republican supporter of President-elect Joe Biden's 2020 campaign against President Donald Trump. Business Insider reports the committee floated a proposal on Saturday that would have censured her, but the measure did not move forward. The state party confirmed via Twitter that they would vote on a resolution to censure McCain on Jan. 23rd. The Maricopa GOP has already censured former Republican Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona, who endorsed President-elect Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
