Super typhoon Goni batters the Philippines

Description

Typhoon Goni hit the Philippines on Sunday with gusts of over 300 kilometres per hour, making it the equivalent of a category 5 hurricane. One million people have been evacuated from the storm's path, and several people have died. Although typhoons are common in the archipelago, climate change is making them more extreme.
