Since losing the election more than two weeks ago, President Donald Trump has made baseless claims of election fraud and refused to concede defeat. According to Business Insider, Trump seemed entirely unprepared to face even the possibility that he might lose to President-elect Joe Biden. On election night, sources say Trump and top aides were convinced that as in 2016, Trump would upset the odds and clinch victory. But when Fox News projected that Biden had flipped the key swing state of Arizona, a source says the president was 'yelling at everyone.' Trump's attempt to persuade Fox to retract the projection failed, and Arizona is expected to certify Biden's win in the state on Monday. Trump has since stepped up his war on Fox News, and in a tweet on Saturday described the network as 'virtually unwatchable.'

Although a lifelong Republican like her husband, Cindy McCain endorsed President-elect Biden. Business Insider reports McCain says she hopes Trump concedes gracefully, as did her late husband conceded to then-president-elect Barack Obama in 2008. The late senator was widely praised for his moving concession speech delivered on Nov. 5, 2008, just a day after Obama's projected election win. The Republican committee of Arizona's Maricopa County is considering censuring the widow of the late GOP Sen. John McCain. Cindy McCain was a prominent Republican supporter of President-elect Joe Biden's 2020 campaign against President Donald Trump. Business Insider reports the committee floated a proposal on Saturday that would have censured her, but the measure did not move forward. The state party confirmed via Twitter that they would vote on a resolution to censure McCain on Jan. 23rd. The Maricopa GOP has already censured former Republican Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona, who endorsed President-elect Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

The Washington Post reports Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell never wants to speak to President Donald Trump again. The Kentucky Republican has reportedly been estranged from Trump in recent weeks. He gave a fiery speech on the Senate floor this week rejecting the president's continued claims of voter and election fraud. McConnell made the speech as Congress was gearing up to count the electoral votes in the 2020 election.

He congradulated President-elect Joe Biden after the Electoral College confirmed his election victory. "Too soon to give up." "Republican party must finally learn to fight. People are angry!" Business Insider reports that Trump's claims that he won the election have no basis in fact. He has repeatedly failed in his attempts to challenge the results in court.
