More than 100,000 migrants have crossed the Channel on small boats from France to southeast England since Britain began publicly recording the arrivals in 2018, official figures revealed on August 11. More than 40,000 migrants have crossed the Channel to Britain so far this year according to the UK government, whilst Britain and France have just signed a new deal in November - increasing what the French border controls are paid in order to prevent these crossings.
