  • The Bidens To Get Vaccinated Monday

    Joe and Jill Biden will get the COVID vaccine on Monday. This news comes from the incoming White House press secretary Jen Psaki. Psaki also revealed that VP-elect Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff, will receive their vaccinations the week after the Bidens. The Pfizer vaccine requires two doses given to patients several weeks apart. Business Insider said the Pfizer has been found to be 94.5% effective. On December 18, VP Mike Pence, second lady Karen Pence, and Surgeon General Jerome Adams received the vaccine on-camera.

  • Cuomo Gives Timeline For Vaccine To Make Difference

    On Wednesday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo told reporters how long he thinks it will take for the COVID vaccine to make a difference. Cuomo says it will take between six and nine months for the coronavirus vaccine to get widespread enough to make a difference. "It's a foot race over a six to nine month period," Cuomo said of the vaccine. According to Business Insider Dr. Anthony Fauci said "close to 80, 85%" of the public needs to get vaccinated before life returns to some semblance of normal."

  • Goldman Sachs:UK Economy To Grow 7%

    On Friday, Goldman Sachs predicted the UK's economy will grow 7% in 2021. The growth will be led by the coronavirus vaccine rollout and a Brexit trade deal. Over half of the country's population is expected to be immunized by March. Business Insider reports there will be a significant rebound in economic activity from the second quarter of next year. New trade restrictions are likely to weigh on potential growth in the coming years. Goldman said the drag will mostly be slow to materialize. UK GDP will end the year 11.7% under its pre-pandemic level, twice as much as Germany, France, and Italy.

  • Flu Vaccine May Lower Risk Of Severe Illness From COVID-19

    People who received the flu vaccine in the year before testing positive for COVID-19 may have a milder case of the virus. Those who received the vaccine are nearly 2 1/2 times less likely to be hospitalized with a severe form of COVID-19. According to UPI, vaccinated patients were more than three times less likely to be admitted to an ICU with COVID-19. Researchers stress however that the flu vaccine does not offer protection against COVID-19. Instead, they theorize that it may help prevent progression to severe disease from the virus by "priming" the immune system. The researchers plan to look at whether other types of vaccinations offer the same benefit.
