Istanbul, Jul 3 (EFE).- Twenty Saudi citizens went on trial in absentia in Turkey on Friday for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.The Saudi reporter, 59, who was a vocal critic of the Saudi royal family, was killed inside the country’s consulate in Istanbul on 2 October 2018.FOOTAGE OF THE COURT HOUSE AND SOUNDBITES OF HATICE CENGIZ, KHASHOGGI'S FIANCEE.Translation:"The first trial was held here today. French serial killer Michel Fourniret's widow, Monique Olivier, arrives in the courtroom's dock to stand trial for complicity in the abduction and murder of little girl and two young women in northern France. Spanning three decades, the murders included a 9 year old girl on her way back from school, a mentally disabled 18 year old and a 20 year olf British woman whose body was found in a river in 1990. Fourniret, known as the "ogre of the Ardennes", was charged with abduction, rape and murder in the cases but died in 2021, aged 79, before he could be brought to trial. IMAGES
