"The salt is in our blood," says Pedro Pires, a technician from the southern Portuguese town of Castro Marim, which together with Vila Real de Santo António and the Spanish town of Ayamonte across the Guadiana river that divides Portugal and Spain, makes up the so-called “Eurocity” of the Guadiana, a unique collaborative Iberian territory where salt production dates back to the Phoenicians. Sinogene, a lab based in Beijing, became the first to clone a dog through gene-editing technology, which allows them to identify, copy, and reproduce genetic information from dogs. The first cloned canine, a beagle pup named Longlong, was born in May and two others followed suit. Gene-editing technology has many potential uses, allowing rare dog breeds to become more widespread, cloning of irreplaceable pets, and even removing genetic diseases before birth.
One new form of stress therapy is gaining popularity in Switzerland. Stressed out Swiss citizens are lining up to hug and pet cows on the grounds of the Zwygart family farm near Switzerland's Basel. The Zwygart farm offers cow therapy sessions, inspired by similar therapy techiques from the Netherlands, which help clients of all ages forget about everyday stresses by patting and cuddling the cute bovines while the calm and restive animals simply sit back and get pampered. The idea arrived to Sibylle after their cow gave birth to three triplets, a male and two females named Sven, Svea, and Svenja, who were destined for the slaughterhouse. Visitors are first taught about the animals and how to clean them, in order to ensure that both the animal and person are comfortable. The sessions last for two hours and cost about $50.

Orestes Estevez fills bottles containing 20 litres of wine with his wife and son every day before capping each bottle off with, you guessed it, a latex condom. Estevez has been making his wine according to a secret mixture of tropical ingredients, including grapes, bananas, ginger and watercress, that he doesn’t share with anyone else.
