Businesses at Tel Aviv's Carmel Market close down as Israel begins its third coronavirus lockdown. After a sharp resurgence of detected infections, the government announced three days ago that it would re-impose the strict measures that had previously helped limit transmission.
Israel is set to go back into a full lockdown later Friday to try to contain a coronavirus outbreak that has steadily worsened for months as its government has been plagued by indecision and infighting.
Palestinian fitness trainer and bodybuilder Mohammad Shweiki films himself training at home in Jerusalem and posts the videos online after authorities closed gyms due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. So far, Israel has officially reported 9006 COVID-19 cases and 59 deaths from the respiratory disease.
The country entered its third lockdown on Friday with restrictions set to last two weeks. Despite a widespread vaccination programme, COVID-19 cases are rising.
