Lighter, more powerful and with even higher levels of performance on both road and track, the McLaren 765LT is revealed as the latest in a line of 'Longtail' McLarens and the most dynamically advanced and engaging LT model ever from McLaren Automotive. The McLaren 765LT opens a new chapter in the 'Longtail' story that began with the McLaren F1 GTR race car in the 1990s and since 2015 has seen road-legal LT models introduced. The new car elevates to new levels the attributes that underpin every LT: driver engagement, track-focused dynamics, minimised weight, optimised aerodynamics and increased power are all amplified - particularly the first two. The LT promise of being 'limited to the few' is also fulfilled, with just 765 individually numbered cars available globally for customer order.Advanced carbon fibre technologies and bespoke carbon fibre LT body panels and aerodynamic features are key to an 80kg (DIN) weight reduction over the 720S. Together with power of 765PS and torque of 800Nm from the 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged McLaren V8 engine, transmission gearing optimised for scintillating in-gear acceleration and LT-specific suspension springs and dampers, this is the basis for the wholly immersive driving experience the new 765LT delivers.
Volkswagen is set to add a range-topping new premium model to its flagship Touareg line - the VW Touareg R. The versatile model's 340 kW (462 PS) plug-in hybrid drive offers an innovative blend of superlative performance and electric efficiency. When the battery is sufficiently charged, the new SUV always starts in the all-electric E-MODE for zero emissions. The battery capacity is designed so that the Touareg R can cover the average daily commute under electric power. Like all Touareg models, the new R version comes with permanent all-wheel drive (4MOTION) as standard. 4MOTION and the powerful drive system (700 Nm of torque) means the Touareg R has also been homologated for a maximum trailer weight of 3.5 tonnes. The premium model can cope with this maximum trailer weight even in E-MODE. As the first plug-in hybrid SUV in the world, the Touareg can also be fitted with the trailer manoeuvring system Trailer Assist. And yet another first: the Touareg will be available with Travel Assist for the first time. The premium model will be the first Volkswagen to boast assisted driving (automatic longitudinal and lateral guidance) up to a speed of 250 km/h.
Volkswagen has previewed the production version of its forthcoming ID 4 by showing the electric crossover in a new pre-launch livery – and has confirmed it will initially be offered with rear-wheel-drive and a range of up to 311 miles. The electric powered crossover will be a key part of the firm’s electric line-up, joining the ID 3 hatch, when it does on sale in Europe, China and the US in 2021. VW showed the revised camouflage livery for the machine during a webcast in place of a planned press event at the cancelled Geneva motor show. The new scheme is a two-tone blue version of the lurid pre-launch wrap used for the ID 3, and clearly shows many of the styling details of the production model. The webcast was also the first time VW had officially confirmed the model would carry the ID 4 nameplate.
