Al Jazeera journalists in Kuala Lumpur questioned over documentary

Kuala Lumpur, Jul 10 (EFE/EPA).- Al Jazeera Friday rejected Friday accusations made by Malaysian authorities about an investigative documentary released last week on the arrest of undocumented immigrants during the coronavirus pandemic.The documentary, called "Locked Up," aired by Al Jazeera, conducted an investigation into the plight of thousands of undocumented migrant workers who were arrested during raids in confined areas of Kuala Lumpur.Malaysian and national television officials criticized the documentary, claiming it was "inaccurate, misleading and unfair."Defense Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob asked the outlet to apologize to the Malaysians, adding that the allegations of racism and discrimination against undocumented immigrants were not true.The Malaysian Police has opened an investigation against Al Jazeera for "sedition, defamation and violation" of the Communications and Multimedia Law in the Asian country.(Camera: AHMAD YUSNI)FOOTAGE SHOWS AL JAZEERA JOURNALISTS ARRIVING AT BUKTI AMAN POLICE HEADQUARTERS AND ALJAZEERA LAWYER HISYAM TEH POH TEIK SPEAKING TO REPORTERS OUSIDE THE POLICE HEADQUARTERS IN KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA.
