Description

Beijing, July 16 (EFE) (Camera: Jesús Centeno).- A campaign to screen nearly the entire population, inflatable laboratories, mobile clinics, and a comprehensive epidemiological investigation are part of China's new strategy to tackle a second-wave outbreak of the novel coronavirus that infected over 300 people within a month in the capital. FOOTAGE OF CORONAVIRUS TESTING AND PU REN HOSPITAL IN BEIJING, CHINA.STATEMENTS BY SUN GUIMEI, DEAN ASSOCIATED WITH THE HOSPITAL:TRANSLATIONS: "We do up to 460 tests a day. The results are available within 4 to 5 hours, the fastest."In the laboratories, staff protection is paramount. They wear protective suits, masks, goggles and gloves.STATEMENTS BY YANG HUIJUAN, DIRECTOR OF THE HOSPITAL'S CLINICAL LABORATORYTRANSLATIONS: "There are several ways to do the test. They are done to one person, as we do here, and there are places where they analyze the samples in groups of 3 to 5 people in a single test tube. If they're all negative, there's no problem. But if they find a positive one, these people are tested again. This makes it easier to test on a large scale.""Screening is a means of diagnosing and treating infectious diseases. We handle infectious diseases according to all protocols. If patients with symptoms come in, they must go to a special outpatient clinic. The important thing is that they are not left undetected for possible positives of COVID-19.""If we find a positive, the result is reviewed the same day. If the second test is negative, we judge the first as a false positive. If it's positive, we notify the authorities. And if they validate it, we activate the emergency protocols. Medical waste is sterilized and the laboratory is disinfected."
