South Korea's GDP contracted 1.4 percent in first quarter of 2020

Seoul, Apr 23 (EFE/EPA).- South Korea's gross domestic product (GDP) contracted 1.4 percent in the first quarter of 2020 compared to previous three months due to the impact of the coronavirus crisis, according to data published by the Bank of Korea on Thursday.This is the worst figure since the Asian country contracted some 3.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2008 due to the global financial crisis that started with the collapse of the American investment bank Lehman Brothers.
