Coronavirus and the subsequent lockdowns have hit Venice hard: its 150 canals, so admired by tourists, are empty.
Deserted beaches, boarded-up shops and shuttered hotels -- Thailand's prime tourist hotspot of Phuket is all but empty as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, and with high season approaching there's no sign of a return by holidaymakers.
Industry analysts say only about a third of the usual number of tourists will visit Portugal's Algarve region this summer.
