Congressman John Lewis understood the movie 'Selma' better than most in attendance at the screening as he was there marching and helping Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the real events. He was emotionally moved by the film.
Selma, Jul 25 (EFE/EPA).- The state of Alabama began saying goodbye to civil rights hero and Democratic congressman John Lewis on Saturday, the first of six days of gatherings honoring his life.A number of memorial services were held across Lewis' home state of Alabama.Lewis died on 17 July at the of age 80 on 17 July 2020 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2019. Atlanta, Jul 22 (EFE / EPA) .- Friends and relatives participated Wednesday in the funeral for Civil Rights leader Reverend C.T. Vivian, who passed away on July 17 at the age of 95. Vivian helped organize boycotts and marches, including Freedom marches, across the South in the 1960s for human rights.
