While Death Valley soars, Greenland's glaciers pass point of no return

Description

Greenland’s glaciers have passed a tipping point, researchers at Ohio State University say, where the snowfall that replenishes the ice sheet each year cannot keep up with the ice flowing into the ocean from glaciers. UN researchers now say sea levels could rise by 60 centimetres by the end of the century. Elsewhere, the effect of climate change was also felt in California’s Death Valley, which reached 55 degrees Celsius, thought to be the highest temperature ever recorded there.
