How close the new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series actually is to motorsport has now been impressively demonstrated by GT3 racer Maro Engel on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. With an officially measured and notarized certified time of 6:43,616 min for the 20.6 kilometre-long track (measured without the straight at track section T13) and 6:48,047 min for the 20.832 kilometre-long total track (measured with the straight at track section T13), the new V8 meteor is placed in the top group of the street-legal “sports cars” category and number one among the fully standard, unmodified models.
The most powerful AMG V8 series engine of all time, the most expressive design, the most elaborate aerodynamics, the most intelligent material mix, the closest proximity to motor racing: For the new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, the Affalterbach designers have pulled out all the stops when it comes to the art of vehicle design. The new super sports car perfectly embodies the brand's rich tradition in motorsport, as well its many years of expertise in developing complete vehicles which impress in every respect. The result is an output of 537 kW (730 hp) from a V8 engine with a 'flat' crankshaft, combined with active aerodynamics and a design which stems directly from the current AMG GT3 racing car.
The second generation of the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé is the new top model in the Mercedes-AMG range. It combines highly dynamic driving characteristics with increased suitability for everyday use. High-tech components such as the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension with semi-active roll stabilisation, standard rear-axle steering and active aerodynamics sharpen the active driving profile. The sporty coupé is also taking its output to the road for the first time with the fully variable all-wheel drive AMG Performance 4MATIC+. Combined with the AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, this results in a driving experience of the highest level. The exclusive AMG sports car architecture with an elaborate composite aluminium body structure allows the car to be configured as a 2+2 seater. For a sports car in this class, this means a very generous interior for passengers and plenty of space for their luggage. As the fifth independent model series after SLS, the first generation of the two-door GT, GT 4-door Coupé and SL, the new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé once again demonstrates the high technological expertise of the Affalterbach development team.The vehicle will be available as an AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ Coupé with 430 kW (585 PS) of output in October 2023 and as an AMG GT 55 4MATIC+ Coupé with 350 kW (476 PS) of output in July 2024.
