    Reuters reports that French riot police fired tear gas and clashed with “yellow vest” protesters in central Paris on Saturday. This during the latest in a wave of demonstrations against the high cost of living that have shaken President Emmanuel Macron’s authority. Authorities said 575 people had been searched and briefly arrested. 361 people of them remained in custody. Police found potential weapons such as hammers, baseball bats and metal petanque balls on them. Hundreds of protesters were milling around the Arc de Triomphe monument. The monument was defaced with anti-Macron graffiti last Saturday. Rioters also torched dozens of cars and looted shops. It is the worst rioting in Paris since May 1968.

  • At Least 80 Injured As French Police Clash With Protesters In Paris Riot

    According to a report by Business Insider, on Saturday, a French protest against rising taxes and the high cost of living turned violent as police fired teas gas and water cannons in street battles with protestors. Police reportedly said that at least 65 people, including 11 officers, were injured in the violent protests, while at least 140 were arrested. Business Insider reports that it was the third straight weekend of protests across France, while many protests in other regions remained largely peaceful.
