Maros Sefcovic, the European Commissioner responsible for handling the EU's fraught ties with the UK government, says "unilateral action is damaging to mutual trust" after the UK government on Monday introduced legislation proposing a unilateral overhaul to the post-Brexit trade deal it signed for Northern Ireland. Sir John Chilcot spoke to a press conference in London, on Wednesday, upon the release of the long-awaited 2.6 million word report into the Iraq War. In his speech, Chilcot stated, "The UK chose to join the invasion of Iraq before the peaceful options for disarmament had been exhausted. Military action at that time was not a last resort." He also concluded, "The dossier on Iraq was made on the basis of flawed intelligence and assessments."
