Protests against Omnibus Law continue in Jakarta

Description

Jakata, Oct 7 (EFE / EPA) .- Protesters took to the streets again Friday to reject the approval of a controversial legislative reform focused on labor laws known as the Omnibus Law.The mostly peaceful demonstrations began across the archipelago on Tuesday and are scheduled to continue through Thursday.Several unions called for a strike to show their rejection of the laws approved Monday by the Indonesian Parliament, which revised some 70 laws and regulations, aimed according to the government to create jobs and attract investors. However, critics of the reform maintain that workers will lose labor rights with the new laws, such as the minimum wage or some unemployment benefits.
