Well-Intentioned Anti-Obesity Campaigns May Be Backfiring

Public health officials haven't held back in linking obesity to worse outcomes for patients with the novel coronavirus COVID-19. But organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are, under the guise of matter-of-factness, covertly fat-shaming the overweight. Body relationship coach Ivy Felicia says the messaging around weight and COVID-19 might negatively affect those at higher weights. HuffPost reports eating disorder therapist Shira Rosenbluth also takes issue with the weight loss campaigns public health officials are promoting right now.
