A Chinese research vessel enters Sri Lanka's Chinese-run southern port of Hambantota despite concerns from India and the United States about its activities. The Yuan Wang 5 entered the port after securing permission to enter Sri Lankan waters on condition it will not engage in any research. Sri Lankan security forces raid the main anti-government protest camp in the capital Colombo, evicting activists gathered outside the president's office. The raid comes a day after veteran politician Ranil Wickremesinghe -- who vowed tough action against demonstrators -- was sworn in as the crisis-hit country's new president, replacing Gotabaya Rajapaksa, whom protesters forced to step down.
