Why Did "The Last Jedi" Director Delete 20,000 Tweets?

Uproxx reports that after James Gunn’s Firing from "Guardians Of The Galaxy 3," social media is on edge. This after Gunn was fired for some incredibly bad-taste jokes about pedophilia and rape. While cast and friends came to his defense in questioning Disney’s decision, others grew paranoid. Some public figures realize that their livelihoods are at stake, over past tweets. Many celebs have been scrubbing through their histories for anything remotely damaging. Including "The Last Jedi" director Rian Johnson, who purged 20,000 tweets as of late. This has naturally led to wild speculation. Mary Sue Twitter account, which added, “[Y]ou probably know what that means by now.” But Johnson explains that nothing was amiss, and no studio told him to take action. He simply wanted to get rid of some possibly dumb tweets. “No official directive at all, and I don’t think I’ve ever tweeted anything that bad. But it’s nine years of stuff written largely off the cuff as ephemera, if trolls scrutinizing it for ammunition is the new normal, this seems like a ‘why not?’ move.”
