US Satellite, Defense Firms Hacked By China

Description

Chinese hackers penetrated US and SE Asian satellite operators, defense contractors and telecoms firms. Reuters reports security researchers at Symantec Corp made the announcement on Tuesday. Reuters reports Symantec said the effort appeared to be driven by national espionage goals. Such goals could be the interception of military and civilian communications. Symantec said hackers infected computers that controlled the satellites. As such, they could have changed the positions of the orbiting devices and disrupted data traffic.
