Watch the First Teaser Trailer for Tim Burton’s Live-Action ‘Dumbo’!


Disney released the first teaser trailer for Tim Burton’s live-action remake of Dumbo on Wednesday, June 13. The stunning teaser opens to the tune of Norwegian singer Aurora singing “Baby Mine.” “Baby Mine” is the beloved song from the original 1941 animated film. The teaser also introduces a former showman and one-armed war veteran named Holt Farrier played by Colin Farrell. Holt and his children Milly (Nico Parker) , and Joe (Finley Hobbins) stumble upon the adorable elephant. The movie also stars Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Eva Green and Alan Arkin. Dumbo hits theaters on March 29, 2019.

    Disney's live-action Dumbo remake is making one big change to the original movie; none of the animals speak! Directed by Tim Burton, there are other substantial differences from the original 1941 animated classic. The main shift is the focus from an animal driven storyline to a human drama. According to ScreenRant Danny DeVito plays the circus owner who enlists the help of Colin Farrell and his children, Milly and Joe, to care for the newborn elephant with giant ears. Farrell and the kids essentially fill the role of Timothy Mouse: at the end of the trailer Milly can even be seen giving Dumbo his magic feather.

    Disney offered a first look at its Dumbo live-action/CGI reimagining during its film presentation at CinemaCon 2018. The high-flying elephant will make the transition from animated character to being the star of his own live-action feature next year, with Tim Burton directing. Dumbo is the story of a circus elephant who is far from normal; he spends most of his childhood getting teased for having ears that are far too big for him. Dumbo then goes on to become the biggest star of his circus as the world’s only flying elephant.

    Oscar winner Alan Arkin has joined the cast of Tim Burton’s live-action version of the Disney classic Dumbo. Over the years, Burton has been known for forming great working relationships with with actors, which oftentimes have led to lasting partnerships. For example, performers like Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and the late Christopher Lee appeared in several of Burton’s films in a row, while other times, decades pass between projects before the director works with an actor again; like when Edward Scissorhands star Winona Ryder reunited with the filmmaker on the stop-motion version of Frankenweenie 22 years after they first worked together.
