S&P 500 Hits Five Month High

Description

According to Reuters, the S&P 500 hit a five-month high on July 13th, supported by gains in the industrial and energy sectors. But losses in the financial sector offset the S&P's growth on Friday the 13th, as the top three banks on Wall Street posted mixed results for the second quarter of 2018. JPMorgan managed to beat expectations, but their earnings report marginally effected their stock price. Wells Fargo and Citigroup failed to meet their revenue estimates, and slid between 1-and-2-percent each. Those earnings reports led the S&P's financial index to fall about half-a-percent. But seven of the eleven major indexes on the S&P were trading up by noon, adding about 4-points overall to the marketplace, which peaked at 2,804-points.
