'Joker' director Todd Phillips says the upcoming thriller is a "real movie" disguised as a "comic book" blockbuster as he responded to criticism that the film could promote violence.
Now that comic book movies have almost taken over mainstream media both DC Films and Marvel Studios have a stacked year ahead. DC Films, now spearheaded by Geoff Johns, is releasing 3 films in 2017 including Lego Batman, Wonder Woman, and Justice League. Marvel Studios, still owned by Disney, is also releasing 3 films in 2017 with Gaurdians of the Galaxy Vol.2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Thor: Ragnarok.
