The US And North Korea Make Differing Claims On How Pompeo's Trip Went

According to a report by Buzz Feed News, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated that there had been "a great deal of progress" following two days of talks with North Korean officials. However, just hours later, Pyongyang's foreign ministry claimed that in the meetings the US had made unilateral demands for complete denuclearization. These demands, according to the foreign ministry, betrayed the spirit of last month's historic summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Secretary of State Pompeo did not meet leader Kim Jong Un during his visit, rather holding discussions with Kim Yong Chol, vice president of the regime’s central committee.
